6 Benefits of a Boot Camp Workout

Having a tough time fitting the gym into your packed schedule? Sign up for a boot camp workout program! Over the course of six weeks you’ll cram all of your cardio and strength training into these workouts. Instead of rearranging your schedule to have a date with the treadmill after work, make your life easier by dedicating yourself to a regimented workout program. You’ll experience these week by week benefits as you complete the program.

Week 1: Keeping Motivation

Let’s be honest, it’s easy to have commitment issues with the gym. It can be challenging to make a routine stick, even if you leave a gym bag in the car, go after work, and work out early in the morning. Ask around any boot camp class and you’ll find people who are busy and struggle to fit workouts into their schedule. Signing up for a boot camp program will get you on the fitness bandwagon no matter what motivates you. There are 18 classes in the 6 week program which follow a consistent schedule. You just need to block out a few hours every week to these designated time slots. Tempted to sleep in? Because boot camp is an additional financial investment, you’ll be more likely to stick to your workout plans.

Week 2: Inceased Energy

The majority of boot camp classes are offered early in the morning so there’s still plenty of time to shower and get to work on time. If you’re not a morning person, hear us out. A boot camp workout is most likely the hardest thing you’ll have to do all day. That big presentation you have at work will be a breeze in comparison to the amount of squats you’ll have to do that same morning. While your coworkers are sipping on their second cup of coffee, you’ll still be enjoying the rush of energy from your morning workout.

Week 3: Building Strength

Here’s where the magic starts to happen. You’re halfway done with the program and might notice small changes in your body. You may find yourself moving away from doing push ups on your knees to trying several on your toes. The kettlebell you’ve been using since day one seems a little too light and you move on up to the next heaviest. All that hard work is starting to pay off.

Week 4: Toning Your Body

While you may have a way to go before you see washboard abs, you’ll start to notice baby biceps making an appearance. Each class consists of strength and cardio circuits, giving you a full body workout without you even noticing. The majority of exercises you do during bootcamp are strength moves, which will help you build more muscle and burn more calories at rest.

Week 5: Weight Loss

While exercise is extremely important to losing weight, it takes some discipline in the kitchen to start seeing results from your boot camp classes. Even though you may be dripping with sweat when you leave class, that doesn’t give you permission to raid the snack cabinet when you get hungry. We recommend eating a healthy, balanced diet when participating in a boot camp training program. If you’re looking to see results, try tracking your calories using an app like MyFitnessPal or Fooducate. Eating well and working out regularly will get you to your goal weight in no time.

Week 6: Boosting Confidence

There’s no better feeling in the world than seeing how far you’ve come over the course of the program. At the beginning of every Beyond Bootcamp program you’ll perform a fitness test and a personal trainer will write down your results. By the end of the program, you might find yourself hanging it on the fridge next to your child’s report card. Remember how burpees felt like a death sentence Week 1? Well they still do, but you’ll be impressed by how many more you can do. By the end of the six week program, you’ll be giving your classmates high fives and patting yourself on the back for how far you’ve come. Those nifty moves you learned on the TRX bands? You’ll catch yourself trying them out outside of class and not worrying if someone’s watching. One of the most important things you’ll build at boot camp is confidence at the gym.
