Group Power

“Oh hey, biceps, nice to meet you.” You may or may not catch yourself saying this after a few Group Power classes. You’ll spend an hour working out using your own body weight, light weights, and a barbell to sculpt your entire body. Each song focuses on a different muscle group, and we promise this class will change your mind about weightlifting. Ladies, don’t worry about bulking up from strength training. It’ll take a lot more than Group Power to give you bulk.

This class is perfect for every fitness level. You can do many moves without added weight, and there’s always room for modification. Are your muscles on fire? No one will care if you skip a rep or two. No special equipment is required, although you might want to bring a yoga mat so you’re more comfortable during floor work. Wear whatever your heart desires, but keep in mind there are a lot of squats and deadlifts, so shorts may not be your friend.

Group Centergy

Whether you’re a lover of yoga or more of a “namast’ay in bed” kind of person, we truly believe everyone can get something out of a Group Centergy class. Over the course of an hour you’ll stretch your way into a more relaxed state of mind in this yoga fusion class. You’ll tone your entire body with movements common in yoga and Pilates. No previous yoga experience is required and it’s a great workout for both beginner and intermediate fitness levels.

Heading to your first class? We recommend bringing a yoga mat with you so you’re more comfortable with each pose, but one is not required. Many Boost Fitness studios already have yoga mats, so don’t be shy if you’d like to borrow one. To add even more relaxation to the class, many instructors prefer to teach the class where the only light is coming from nightlights scattered around the room. After working on your balance and challenging every muscle group, you’ll enjoy several minutes of pure relaxation in savasana (aka laying on your back.) Some students get a little chilly, so we recommend bringing a sweatshirt so you’re comfortable during this final asana.

Because this class is only a half hour long, many class goers like to pair it with a Group Power class that typically follows. Strengthening your core is not only important for looking good on the beach; it also helps you have correct form for other exercises. This class is perfect for beginners and advanced exercisers alike because there are multiple modifications for each and every move. The only outside equipment you’ll need is a hand towel. Instead of mopping up your sweat, it will be used for getting a deeper stretch and enhancing your strength.
