Oh yes, the fitness studio vs. gym debate. It’s something more and more people toy with now that their favorite mommy bloggers are joining SoulCycle by the droves. But which one is right for you? Here’s our case for why joining a gym in the Oxford area makes more sense than a boutique fitness studio.
Located in Oxford Center, squeezing your workout in–along with some errands!–has never been easier.
You’re no stranger to hopping in the car and driving quite a while to get to where you want to go. Living in the beautiful country has its perks, but the last thing you want to do on Saturday morning is drive into Worcester to make it to your yoga class. Boost Fitness is located in Oxford Center, right near the on-ramp to 395 North, making it easy to run errands before or after your workout. Here are just a few shops within walking distance.
- Home Depot: Any weekend warrior knows that DIYs around the house require a lot of strength and supplies. Your workout will be a breeze compared to retiling your bathroom this afternoon.
- Market Basket: Weight loss success happens mostly in the kitchen, not in the gym. Market Basket’s prices allow you eat healthy without breaking the bank.
- Dunkin’ Donuts: In a rush to your morning spin class? Grab a small black coffee before your workout. The caffeine wakes you up, not to mention helps boost fat loss during your sweat sesh.
Boost Fitness is your one-stop-shop for a fantastic workout.
We hate to say it, but fitness studios are often one-trick ponies. There’s nothing wrong with that. It allows them to be good at whatever they do, whether that’s Pilates, yoga, or spinning. You already know that it’s healthy to switch up your workouts, so you’d be getting the most bang for your buck joining a gym. Not only do we offer 7 different types of fitness classes, we have a variety of affordable personal training options. Don’t get us started on our huge free weights area or dozens of cardio and weight machines. Whether you’re into CrossFit or long walks on a treadmill, we have a little bit of everything.
Enjoy an ample number of parking spots.
Is it just us, or have you noticed that the best fitness studios pop up where there is zero parking? Maybe it’s a city thing (we’re looking at you, Worcester) or it’s meant to be a cardio warm-up before class. Nothing gets the heart racing like struggling to find a parking spot 5 minutes before class and running a few blocks. You never have to worry about finding a spot at Boost Fitness Oxford. We’re located in a plaza with a newly paved parking lot. The only time you’ll run to and from our doors is if you choose to.
Fitness fun tip: Park on the outer edges of the parking lot if you work out during the day. You’ll get some extra steps in, not to mention the option to begin and end your workout with a quick jog.
You don’t need a Groupon to afford your workout.
We’re not going to lie: we love the fun atmosphere of fitness studios. But that comes at a cost. Typical fitness studio packages allow you to pay for a drop-in class, passes for a certain number of classes (usually 5 to 10), or unlimited classes for a month. That can really add up if you’re an avid exerciser. Let’s do some math, shall we?
In the Oxford area, the average price for a class ranges from $12 to $20, depending on the town and the type of class it is. Let’s call it $16 for the purpose of this exercise. If you go to a class once a week, that’s $64 a month! Class passes only knock down the price by a dollar or two. And unlimited classes? You better go at least 4 times a week to make it worth it. Unlimited classes at Boost Fitness start at $19.99/month.
